Title: At Peace in the Drift
Author: [livejournal.com profile] jenthegypsy
A/N: Written for the Drabble Challenge at BPS, topic: Drift

At Peace in the Drift

No one knew the origins of his preference for sleeping accommodations, though there were plenty who were willing to make a guess, especially on nights when the rum ran free and fancy took flight. But they were careful to keep the foolish stories to themselves, for he was well liked and known to be a fair man besides.

Not so fair, however, after a night or two in port.

So it was that Jack knew exactly how to locate him when he arrived in Tortuga with the whelp in tow. Just inquire as to the location of the nearest drift of swine and find the man, slumbering peacefully, among them.

Title: The Origin of the Compass
Author: [livejournal.com profile] estellongshanks
Setting: I see this as kind of a missing scene from Pirates of the Caribbean, answering a question that had long been on my mind. This is really Gibbs' story though; he made me tell it.
Rating: PG, genfic
Disclaimer: Ted & Terry, you'll forgive me, won't you?
Acknowledgements: Though it was in my head, I could not have put this to paper without the wonderful guidance of [livejournal.com profile] linaelyn. I'm sure she'll tell you she was barely involved. Just a little nudge out of the door, so to speak.

Title: Sea Shanty

Author: [livejournal.com profile] berne

Rating: PG

Characters: Jack, Will, Gibbs

Disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by Gore Verbinski, Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio, various studios including but not limited to First Mate Productions Inc., Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Walt Disney Pictures. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.

AN: As always, love to [livejournal.com profile] hyadspes for betaing. The sea shanty in the first part of the fic is written by me. Written for [livejournal.com profile] khohen1, who requested Jack/Gibbs. I couldn't quite get the slashiness in (subtext, maybe?), but threw in Will to make up for it.

Summary: (And I wondered where people got these ridiculous tales about you…)

Title: Goodnight, Sweet Prince
Rated: PG-13
Characters: Jack/Will, Gibbs
Warnings: Character death
Notes: Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] linaelyn, who is in my mind the reigning Gibbs queen, whose help was greatly appreciated and suggestions were wonderful. And also, why yes, 'goodnight sweet prince' was stolen directly from From Hell, as it is what inspired me to write this piece. And the Princess Bride reference was a coincidence, but it fits so I kept it.

...the worst part of it was that it shouldn’t have happened at all

Written for [livejournal.com profile] linaelyn for the Tertiary Characters Ficathon.
Mr. Gibbs likes to tell stories.

Tertiary PotC Character Ficathon
[ter·ti·ar·y] Third in place, order, degree, or rank.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a fandom which is heavily populated, but I do see some characters that I feel are highly ignored. Not because they're not liked, but because perhaps Jack, Will, Norrington, or Elizabeth are more fun, or easier, to write for.

What I'm referring to when I say tertiary characters are people such as Gibbs, Murtogg, Mullroy, Gilette, Groves, Cotton, Anamaria, Pintel, Rigetti, Bo'Sun, Koehler, and even Gov. Swann to some degree. I'm missing many in that list, but I think I've given you the idea. Basically, any and all characters which are not Elizabeth, Jack, Will, or Norrington.

My hope is to get as many people as possible to sign up to write a fic of up to or around 1,000 words with atleast one of the tertiary characters (listed above or otherwise) in a 'starring' role.

Infinite Gratitude: This was inspired by this post at pirategasm, which I took as a challenge, to use as many of the words or phrases that were forbidden, as possible. Of a possible 61 words, I only missed 2 phrases, for a total of 13 words, I think. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121, [livejournal.com profile] firesignwriter, and [livejournal.com profile] juniper200, my late-nite PST PDT crew. Dammit. I just lost an hour of writing time, to the time-change.

Will swallowed, his gaze never leaving the expanse of skin displayed before him...

One for the Gibbs fans:

Ah! Gibbs, his tongue likes to wag
He’ll tell tales of mermaids and swag
To any young man
At sea or on land,
How I love that lecherous fag.

[livejournal.com profile] firesignwriter posted this little gem Gibbette. Why so many of her friends think it is an April Fool's joke is beyond me. I think it's priceless.

I wouldn't be wavin' that thing around like that 'f I were you." Gibbs' gaze, however, could not leave "that thing".

"Why the hell not?" Jack asked, tipping the rum bottle to his lips.

"S'bad luck not to be sharin' is all." Gibbs sat down in the captain's hammock, much to the consternation of Jack.

"Who says I'm not sharing?"

Gibbs stood back up and reached toward the mostly-empty bottle, "Well, in that case I..."

"Ah! Not so fast there." Jack raised the bottle over Gibbs' head as Gibbs leaned forward to grab his prize. The combined act caused Gibbs to fall forward onto Jack resulting in both of them spinning sideways back into Jack's hammock. The rum bottle fell behind them and emptied its remaining drops onto the floor. "There see, ye've gone and wasted it!"

Gibbs' voice suddenly became more husky than usual, especially at such close quarters "Guess I'll just have to make it up to ye then."

~wave~ Hi everyone..

A while back I read a Gibbs/Norrington fic- I can't remember the name, but it involved an interesting story about Amazons- and now I can't find it. Does anyone here know it? ~hopeful~

To celebrate my conversion to the squeeness that is Gibbs, I made this icon.

Hee! So lickable. :-D

A little drabble-ish thing, Jack/Gibbs. R. Scroll down for [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121's even HOTTER reply-drabble. She rocks my world.

Hey, Ponderosa! Post your Gibbs fanart! *poke poke* *peer pressure* *fangirls*

Um, and I wrote a couple other Gibbs fics.
The Errors of Lieutenant Norrington: Ch. 1~ Amazons & Swallows. NC-17 This one's a WIP, but not a cliffhanger. Working on more at the moment.

Acting Pirate Kennedy, PG Gibbs POV, Hornblower X-over, implied Jack/Gibbs, implied Jack/Archie.

And I guess Gibbs figures prominently in Chapter 3 of my um... magnum opus first thing I ever posted, Nice Hat: Human Hair...from my Back. I'm being brave and pointing to the really early stuff here. Warning: it's rather...ugly, in patches. I hope to continue to grow as a writer, as much as I have been these past few months.

Figured I'd post a link to my Groves/Gibbs fic here. Not long. Rated a strong 'R'. Disclaimers and all can be found with the story.
